I then pinched down the sides of the case, making sure the latches snapped back together. 3) After removing the screw, I had put the Chromebook back together.Removing this screw will disable firmware write-protection which will allow you to change the firmware to a regular PC bios. 2) Once opened, on the motherboard there is a silver screw with a wide flat head.After unscrewing all 11 screws use something flat and thin to pry open the latches. The top and bottom are stuck together by plastic latches. Do keep in mind that there are different sized screws. There aren’t any hidden screws in the rubber feet or information sticker. 1) I opened up my Chromebook by removing the screws on the bottom.I didn’t want ChromeOS to take up the little space that I have, so I went full blown Gallium and completely removed ChromeOS. I wanted Linux on my Chromebook in order to learn Linux and learn programming. I didn’t want to forget how I did this and maybe it’ll help someone out.
